Overview

Pro Bono Work

This project was done pro bono. Our team members can choose to delegate some of their time into projects like this. This gives us a chance to help causes that are close to our hearts and develop our skills in new ways.

Challenge

One of the activities of Zupa na Plantach is going to places where people live in extremely difficult conditions: vacant lots, garbage sheds, sewers, tents, plots etc. Main goal of those visits is consistently building relationships and providing urgent emergency material assistance.

Our goal was to streamline the process of gathering the list of needs from people, creating help packages and delivering them.

Scope of work

  • Product Discovery
  • UX Design
  • Wireframing
  • UI Design
  • Development
  • Assistance in introducing new software into existing operations for NGO team

Simplicity is key

Collaboration goals

  • Make it more intuitive to report new needs of visited people.
  • Allow volunteers to be efficient in reporting so they can focus on conversations during their visits.
  • Simplify and speed up the process of delivering material assistance.

Do we really need something more than a spreadsheet?

Is custom software a good way to address this problem? That is the question that comes back time and again in different projects. We want to make sure that investing into software development is the right choice. We explored the current setup that volunteers were using. It involved social media platforms and multiple, complex spreadsheets. We saw space for streamlining it with a little bit of code and some simple, yet friendly design.

Small delights

Even when working with very narrow scope, we didn’t want to sacrifice the quality of the UI.

Our designer prepared simple styles that can be easily implemented by our front-end developers. She added a touch of geometric illustrations, to add friendliness and warmth to the overall app experience and to give small encouragement to the volunteers during their hard work.
